How It Works

This tool resizes any image to exact pixel dimensions or a percentage of its original size, with an aspect-ratio lock to prevent accidental stretching or squashing — processed entirely in your browser.

Pixel dimensions vs. percentage mode

Pixel mode lets you set an exact width and height (e.g. 1200×800 for a specific platform requirement). Percentage mode scales proportionally — 50% halves both dimensions, 200% doubles them — useful when you want to shrink or enlarge an image without calculating exact target pixels.

Why the aspect ratio lock matters

Changing width and height independently without locking the aspect ratio distorts the image — circles become ovals, faces stretch. The lock (on by default) keeps the original width-to-height proportion intact when you change one dimension, automatically adjusting the other to match.

Tips

  • Keep the aspect ratio lock on unless you specifically want to intentionally distort the image — unlocking it and setting mismatched dimensions is the most common cause of stretched-looking photos.
  • Enlarging an image beyond its original resolution doesn't add real detail — it just stretches existing pixels, so significant upscaling will look softer or blurrier than the original.
