How It Works
This page shows the live silver price per gram, per kilogram, and per tola, based on the LBMA silver spot price — the global benchmark used by banks and bullion dealers — with local retail conversion for your selected country.
Why silver prices are quoted in multiple units
Silver is far less expensive per unit weight than gold, so it's commonly priced per kilogram for bulk/investment purposes as well as per gram for smaller jewelry quantities, and per tola (11.664 grams) in South Asian markets where that unit remains standard for buying and selling precious metals.
Why the rate differs from a local shop's quote
Like gold, the spot price is the pure wholesale benchmark rate — retailers add making charges and applicable taxes on top, so the price you pay for silverware or jewelry will be higher than the base rate shown here.
Examples
Converting grams to kilograms
If silver is priced at ₹85/gram, the equivalent per-kilogram price is 85 × 1000 = ₹85,000/kg.
Tola-based pricing
At ₹85/gram, 1 tola (11.664g) of silver costs approximately 85 × 11.664 ≈ ₹991.
Common Use Cases
- Checking current silver rates before buying silverware, coins, or jewelry
- Comparing silver investment costs across per-gram, per-kg, and per-tola pricing
- Tracking silver price trends alongside gold for precious-metal portfolio decisions
Tips
- Silver prices are historically more volatile than gold on a percentage basis — if you're tracking silver for investment purposes, expect larger day-to-day percentage swings than you'd typically see with gold.
- As with gold, ask for making charges to be itemized separately from the base metal rate when buying silver jewelry, so you can compare prices fairly across sellers.
